For TK-2 Educators and Coaches

In Teaching & Learning Mathematics, participants will engage in TK-2nd math as teachers and learners in order to further develop a mindset for teaching math at a high and inclusive level.

Participants will leave the 2-day series with:

• An overview of the 2023 California Mathematics Framework;
• Structures and strategies for differentiation, reteaching, and intervention;
• Assessment best practices;
• Strategies and structures for math discourse, building number sense, building basic fact and computational fluency, and student expression of understanding;
• How to balance inquiry and explicit instruction, with a toolkit for each.
• Classroom-ready activities, routines, and structures.

**Please note: The October 12, 2023 session will be held at San Rafael City Schools, 310 Nova Albion Way, San Rafael. All other sessions will take place at the Marin County Office of Education.

About the Presenter

Leo Kostelnik is an educator with experience as a TK-12 teacher, TK-8 principal and superintendent. He has consulted for Marilyn Burns Math Solutions and is an author of Mathematical Reasoning Inventory, Scholastic assessment resources, Do the Math and Heinemann curriculum.
